Once you’re up to Step 4 (of the application steps shown on the right), you’re ready to submit a draft application for feedback (Word document). If you’re up to Step 6, then you’re ready to submit your final application (PDF document). Below is a checklist you can use to make sure you have included all the relevant information in your application.

General Checklist
  • Am I currently an ANU employee and will continue to be for at least another 2 months?
  • Can I commit to upholding the HEA Code of Practice?
  • Have I considered how I can contribute to the EFS as a coach and assessor?
  • Have I undertaken Professional Development as per my stream?
  • Have I written reflectively, not descriptively, in my responses for the Areas of Activity?
  • Have I shown how relevant roles, responsibilities, initiatives, innovations or research in teaching and learning have influenced me?
  • Is my overview written in a narrative style and doe sit provide context for my experience in teaching and supporting learning?
  • Does my philosophy of teaching and learning show what motivates and drives me in my teaching/learning support?
  • Have I reflected on the ways in which literature has underpinned my teaching practices?
  • Has my application been read by someone else?
  • Has my application been proof read?
  • Have I included reports from 2 referees?

Associate Fellow (AFHEA) Checklist
  • Components:
    • Overview of my teaching/learner support experience
    • Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
    • Reflective narratives for 2 Areas of Activity of your choosing
    • Literature reference list
    • Two referee reports
  • Content:
    • Have I shown my successful and effective engagement in reflective narratives addressing two of the Areas of Activity (A1, A2, A3, A4, or A5)?
    • Have I shown my understanding of Core Knowledge with at least K1 and K2?
    • Have I shown my commitment to all Professional Values (V1, V2, V3, and V4)?
    • Have I shown my involvement in continuing Professional Development and how I have incorporated this into my practice?
    • Have I shown my engagement in professional practices, pedagogical research, or scholarship related to my teaching experience?

 

Fellow (FHEA) Checklist
  • Components:
    • Overview of my teaching/learner support experience
    • Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
    • Reflective narratives for 5 Areas of Activity (A1, A2, A3, A4, or A5)
    • One reflective case study
    • Literature reference list
    • Two referee reports
  • Content:
    • Have I shown my successful and effective engagement in all Areas of Activity (A1, A2, A3, A4, or A5)?
    • Have I shown my understanding of all Core Knowledge (K1, K2, K3, K4, K5 and K6)?
    • Have I shown my commitment to all Professional Values (V1, V2, V3, and V4)?
    • Have I shown my participation in continuing Professional Development and how I have incorporated this into my practice?
    • Have I shown the incorporation of professional practices, pedagogical research, scholarly teaching and/or scholarship into my teaching/supporting learning practices?

 

Senior Fellow (SFHEA) Checklist
  • Components:
    • Overview of my teaching/learner support experience
    • Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
    • Reflective narratives for 5 Areas of Activity (A1, A2, A3, A4, or A5)
    • Two reflective case studies
    • Literature reference list
    • Two referee reports
  • Content:
    • Have I shown my successful and effective engagement in all Areas of Activity (A1, A2, A3, A4, or A5)?
    • Have I shown my understanding of all Core Knowledge (K1, K2, K3, K4, K5 and K6)?
    • Have I shown my commitment to all Professional Values (V1, V2, V3, and V4)?
    • Have I shown my deep involvement in continuing Professional Development and how I have incorporated this into my practice?
    • Have I shown substantive and effective engagement with my peers in relation to teaching and learning?
    • Have I demonstrated that my academic practice is informed by my professional practice, research or scholarship?

 

Submit your application

Please submit your draft (Word document) or your final submission (one PDF document including your referee reports) to efs@anu.edu.au. An EFS coach will be in contact to provide you with feedback and/or arrange a time to meet with you to discuss your application. You will receive a reply email to confirm your submission. If you do not receive an email within 2 work days, please contact us again via the same email address to make sure your submission has gone through. Please include as the subject line, the EFS category you are applying for (e.g. AFHEA final submission).

Application steps:

  1. Attend the Information Session (E1)
  2. Pick your stream (which may involve attending training workshops) and fellowship category and attend Writing a Reflective Narrative (E3)
  3. Find two referees (one of whom should be a HEA fellow)
  4. Draft your application and send it to efs@anu.edu.au
  5. Your EFS coach will schedule a meeting with you to provide feedback on your draft
  6. Review and submit your application

If you are a clinical or medical educator, then you will likely follow the Teaching in Medicine (TiM) stream so the above steps do not apply to you. Please contact efs@anu.edu.au for more information.
